Jessie James was reasonably successful and included Wanted the single which climbed in the Top 40 of the singles charts. Decker has always been a "country" musician, however this album was made and sold for a pop audience. Decker fought against the label for more control of her music after two other singles did not succeed. Her subsequent album, Boys in the Summer was a more traditional album. Decker's second album, announced by the title Daughter of a Gypsy and Sweet American Dreams by Mercury Records, was canceled following Mercury saw the poor results of three of the singles on the country charts.

The children were sleeping in the crib and I was strapped to a baby on my back. Ha! The house was getting closer to finishing, but the project was still a distance to go.
